After my last post, I think it’s only fair to mention that while I certainly have those 12+ hour work days, there’s also the random days I get to come home relatively early and spend the better part of my day with my family. I say “relatively,” because after all, it’s all relative, right?
Yesterday my morning started off a little hectic. I had a criminal felony hearing which pretty much ended up a bust. Without going too much into detail, I asked the judge to do X for me. He said “Counse, based on probation recommendation I can’t do X without Y.” But basically I myself can’t make Y happen unless he does X for me. Then the ever so clever District Attorney tried to say he would do Y for me but just FYI he would be trying to push 3 years of state prison for my client. Never mind then. (That should be encrypted enough to not violate any attorney-client privacy.)
After a much better afternoon calendar, and a Starbucks work session, I got to come home to my little one. I’m unsure if he understands the concept of the actual time when I leave and when I come back but I’m pretty sure Nick is happier when I get home earlier in the day.
We spent the afternoon playing out front. This kid LOVES the outdoors, from basketball, to raking leaves, running … Name it and this kid loves it lol. We also made a quick target and GameStop run. (Major eye roll) Is anyone else’s husband into video games?) Nick got a new basketball, mini size, since he usually lugs around his dad’s humongous basketball around the house.
We ended our day with our routine afternoon walk around the neighborhood. Something I love about our neighborhood is that although we are in the middle of the city, our neighborhood feels like we are out in he middle of nowhere, no traffic, very little foot traffic, trees everywhere, nature all around. It truly is the best of two world because hey, target is just 5 minutes away lol.
Maybe the day was somewhat mundane but for me it felt pretty amazing because I was home before 6PM, my kid was happy, and I was happy. What type of days make you happy? Also, would you like more posts on my work? I cant go too much into detail but I’m sure I can write about some of the random situations I have encountered.
XOXO – L
